A 10-Piece Trial Assortment of UK-Made RODA Mounted Felts
RODA Mounted Felt Bob Kits provide a practical introduction to different mounted felt sizes and contact shapes without requiring a pack of one exact configuration. Each kit contains 10 randomly assorted UK-made felts drawn from the RODA bob, cone and bullnose range.
This is a trial assortment rather than a fixed contents set. Exact shapes, dimensions and proportions vary between kits, and the product photographs show examples rather than a guaranteed selection.
Use the kit to identify which general contact profiles and felt formats reach the component effectively. Once a useful configuration has been established, the corresponding RODA Mounted Felt Bob, Cone or Bullnose can be ordered as a matching pack of 10 with the required shape, felt dimensions and shank diameter.
These wool-felt tools contain no abrasive grain. They are intended exclusively to carry a separately selected polishing, cutting or lapping compound, which provides the abrasive action.

Both options contain 10 mounted felts.
“Large” describes the felt format and mixed shank selection; it does not contain more pieces than the Small Kit.
Individual shapes, dimensions or quantities within each shape family cannot be requested through the standard kit variations.
3mm and 6mm Shank Compatibility
- Small Kit: Every mounted felt is supplied on a 3mm shank. Use with a compatible 3mm chuck, collet or holder.
- Large Kit: The assortment contains both 3mm and 6mm shanks. Compatible holders for both diameters are required to use the complete kit.
- Check the actual holder: Machine type alone does not confirm compatibility. Confirm the chuck or collet capacity before ordering.
- Do not force a shank into an incorrectly sized holder or attempt to clamp the felt body.
Use with Polishing, Cutting and Lapping Compounds
A compatible compound is required.
The felt contains no abrasive grain and is not intended to cut or polish without a separately applied compound.
The compound provides the cutting or polishing action, while the selected felt shape controls the area of contact, access and support. Depending on the compound and process, these felts can assist with cutting and pre-polishing, surface refinement, final polishing or precision lapping.
Select the compound for the workpiece material, starting condition and finish required. Apply a controlled amount, use light pressure and keep the tool moving to limit unnecessary heat build-up.
Use a separate felt for each compound type or grade. Transferring a coarser compound onto a finer polishing felt can introduce unwanted scratches and compromise the finish.
UK-Manufactured RODA Felt and Bespoke Options
RODA Felt tools are manufactured by Moleroda in the UK. The kits provide a convenient way to explore part of the standard mounted range, while direct manufacture allows alternative dimensions, profiles, shank arrangements and felt specifications to be considered for established finishing requirements.
Bespoke specifications are separate manufacturing enquiries and cannot be selected through the random Small or Large Kit variations. For exact standard combinations, order from the individual bobs, cones and bullnose range. For a non-standard requirement, contact Moleroda with the material, component geometry, available machine, required finish and expected quantity.

Operating Guidance
- Inspect each felt and shank before use. Do not use a tool that is damaged, loose or running out of true.
- Secure the metal shank correctly in a compatible chuck, collet or holder; never clamp the felt body.
- Start at a low speed and increase only where the selected felt, machine, compound and workpiece process has been proven safe.
- Use light, controlled pressure and keep the felt moving. Excessive pressure can generate heat, distort the contact profile and shorten tool life.
- Use a separate felt for each compound type or abrasive grade.
- Wear suitable eye protection and use guarding, extraction and other controls appropriate to the machine, compound and workpiece material.
