Mounted Wooden Bobs – Cones
Mounted Wooden Bobs – Cones – work in polishing by applying polishing compound or abrasive paste to the surface of the material being polished. The bob is typically made from a dense, hard wood that has been shaped into a cylindrical or conical form, and it is mounted on a mandrel or other type of rotary tool.
When the rotary tool is turned on, the mounted wooden bob spins rapidly, allowing the polishing compound or abrasive paste to be evenly distributed over the surface of the material. As the bob moves across the surface, it gently abrades the material, removing imperfections and leaving a smooth, polished finish.
Mounted wooden bobs are often used in polishing applications where a high level of detail is required, such as in jewelry making or other precision work. They can be used on a variety of materials, including metals, plastics, and even glass.
It’s important to choose the appropriate size and shape of the wooden bob for the specific polishing task at hand, as using a bob that is too large or too small may result in uneven or incomplete polishing.
Used with lapping paste such as Ultra lapping paste or Diamond Compound.

Hardwood Bobs & Cones
Made from laminated hardwood. The layers are compressed together in a cross-ways direction to their grain. This therefore creates strength and high structural stability. Consequently hardwood bobs maintain their shape well. They are used for first stage polishing where high cut and stock removal is required.
Softwood Bobs and Cones
These are used as carriers for finer diamond compounds for high-gloss polishing. The softwood is smooth and grit-less as a result you can ensure a perfect finish.
