Hardened Felt Polishing Sticks
Hardened Felt Polishing sticks are generally used for hand lapping, mainly all types of metal.
These sticks are unmounted and are 19mm sq x 150mm. They are chemically hardened by our factory.
Normally used with diamond compound, they can also be used with simichrome, rouge, ultralap, clover compound or any other polishing paste. A little lapping fluid is a good idea for keeping the compound wet and prolongs it’s effectiveness.
Wooden lapping sticks can be used before felt sticks with a coarser compound for greater stock removal.
Felt is normally used for the final polish with finer compounds, unhardened felt sticks are available.
The sticks are used by hand, they can be held in a double ended polishing stone holder for a better grip and stability.
What is lapping?
Lapping is a controlled sanding or polishing process process that creates an accurate finish on a part. The result is a precise roughness on flat or domed surfaces.
Flat lapping can correct surface irregularities caused by sawing or grinding. Domed lapping produces a slender uniform shape for lenses and other curved surfaces. The process can be applied to a wide range of materials.
Lapping processes result that can’t be achieved by other finishing methods.
